  1. Finally!! Something worth not being productive at work for. I mean Whitney tells us the children are our future, but come on we’re talking about the Reeds. I can’t wait to be able to keep up with you two.

  2. sweetheart… you need to spell check. love you.

  3. Sounds Awesome! No sadness about yo’ late fall. We live in Florida. We’re lucky to get Fall. I know…you’re thinking, “but you have the beach-summer all the time”. It’s overrated!!

  4. Dude! Sounds like great fun. I know we love playing cards with you guys too – so save a seat at the table for when we get there in a couple of weeks. Oh, and… killer boots man!

  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!

  6. Gucci! You so crazy!

  7. What a gorgeous tree! Congrats on making the leap. Love the decorations too.

  8. I love your Christmas tree. Its so cute> We still have the same fake one. Heather would know! L0ve ya. David you need to call me more. I have only talked to heather the last few times and never you!! And heather go on gmail and actually answer my gmail aim.

  9. you posted a new blog!!! yayayayayaya!!

  10. I thought he did a great job as well, but I’m not so sure we have anyone on idol who is going to work arrangements on their own. I always wonder how much room they have to make a song their own. If they can do anything, why aren’t they? It would all be so much better.

  11. chris’ cover was amazing. i didn’t watch david’s version. i don’t believe in someone doing a cover of a cover. that is just ridiculous.

  12. Brilliant! After the movie clip there is really no way to take the song seriously while watching young Dave sing it. But I can’t say that I really took him seriously when I saw him do it the first time on TV. Seriously, he picked that song. I know why Andy Samberg picked it – why did Dave?

  13. I’ve read a bunch of posts where people are negative about David’s cover of a cover. My questions is ” Who hasn’t done this on American Idol?” Half of the music today is a cover of someone else’s original. Also, some of these contestants are young enough to believe what they hear on the radio currently is the original. It happens. We’ve all had that moment (possibly with our parents music) when we realized that this cool song we like has been done before, and maybe done better.

When a person’s creativity is cultivated, then we see an artist versus just a singer.

    Just some thoughts i had.

  14. Hey, not bad. Glad to see that if you close your eyes and try real hard you can almost have a real taste of home. I had Chic-Fil-A today – I’ve recently discovered their Buffalo Sauce – so now if I’m in the mood, I can have a Buffalo Chicken sandwich Chic-Fil-A style.

  15. I’m not sure if we had greater vocal talent this year, but the talent in general was better.

I believe any song they sing can be relevant if they know what to do with it, but the fact is that it may be asking these contestants for too much. Honestly, this is a singing competition not an arranging competition. David Cook and a few others may have this kind of experience, but honestly it’s a gift and a learned skill that many amateur singers do not have!

This competition is confusing because what do you judge on; voice, performance, arrangement, or all of the above??? It’s not always clear what they want. Do you remember some of the past idol weeks? I saw a rerun of the 2nd season. Oh, man…the arrangements were sappy and full of cheese. The only ones that passed were those with amazing voices. No one was really focusing on the arrangements.

Maybe it’s time for IDOL to Give up!!

  16. i like the word honestly don’t !? :)

  17. You make a very valid point…in the end it is a singing competition. And there are some very good singers that have come and gone.

Maybe my bigger problem is that they continue to get stuck with limited options. In this case it has helped David Cook because he’s able to think of different arrangements.

I feel we should go back to more options that allow them to choose a song from a decade, or a song that was once a number 1 hit on the charts. Lets set them up for success!

Anyway…i agree with you that it’s confusing and every season is certainly filled with cheese. Can someone bring that show Rockstar back!?!

  18. True! And Rockstar, first season, was Awesome!!!

  25. I have a theory about Ninja November. Here’s the thing….if you’re anything like me, you look forward to Halloween all October. You have a party, your friends have parties, every bar/restaurant has a party. Heck, you’re even allowed to wear super hero tights to work on Halloween. How can you not get excited about that? Well, you spend all October being super excited about the last day of October. You buy candy, you decorate your cubicle with a rubber bat (the animal, not the sporting good….thanks to my coworker Lisa) and you partake in some super fun Halloween shenanigans. You wake up with a sore stomach, a slight headache, and a long wirey black wig hair stuck in your mouth. (Odd, I didn’t even wear a black wig last night) Half way through your morning coffee….it hits you….literally….it’s November already. That sneaky son of a….

  26. To Jen…I always say I’m going to keep this thing updated – there’s certainly pleanty of stuff to talk about! it’s the follow-through that gets me…similar to my golf swing.
